Corrugated cardboard uses two main types of paper: kraft and test liner. Kraft paper is of higher quality because it is made from virgin fiber. This increases the strength and printability of the paper. Test paper is used in the middle and inner layers, and kraft paper is used in the outer layer. Paper can also have different weights, which are measured in GSM (grams per square meter). The most commonly used weights are 125, 150, 200 and 300 GSM. For example, 125KT means that the outer side of the paper is kraft, while the corrugation and inner layer are test, and the weight is 125 GSM.

Single wall cardboard boxes are the simplest and are made of one layer of cardboard. Type B cardboard is 3 mm thick and type C is 4 mm thick and are suitable for storing up to 10 kg weight. Double-walled cardboard boxes are made by combining different types of cardboard, and they are even more durable and resistant to deformation. The most common double wall cartons are BC groove, which is a combination of B and C types and has a thickness of 6.8 mm, and EB groove, which is a combination of B and E types and has a thickness of 4.5 mm. These types of cardboard are more suitable for storing heavier and larger goods, as they are stronger and more resistant to deformation.
